1. Scientist: ‘C’ : 04 position
Pay Scale : Pay Band-3 :
15600-39100/- + Grade pay: 6600/- plus admissible allowances
Age Limit : Not exceeding 40 years as on 30.03.2012.
Educational Qualifications and Experience:
(a) Essential : Ph.D. in any area of the Earth Sciences with first class at Preceding degree, preferably in Glaciology, with four years post doctoral experience in the field of Glaciology with good academic record & publications in reputed journals.
(b) Desirable:(i) Throughout 1st class academic record. The Institute reserves the right to screen-in candidates with throughout 1st class academic record for being called for an interview.
(ii) Specialization in the field of Physical Glaciology, Climate Change, Glacial Hydrology, Environmental Glaciology with expertise in modeling.
2. Stenographer Grade-I : 01 position
Pay Scale : Pay Band-2:
9,300–34800–Grade Pay 4200/- plus admissible allowances.
Age Limit : Not exceeding 30 years as on 30.03.2012
Educational Qualifications and Experience:
(a) Essential :
(i) A graduate in Science/Arts/Commerce from a recognized University with good academic record.
(ii) Proficiency in English Typewriting as well as Stenography.
(iii) Minimum 5 years experience as a Stenographer in any Govt. organization/University/Autonomous organization/Undertaking institution
The Screened – in candidates will have to clear a skill test in stenography/typewriting on computer before appearing for an interview before the Selection Committee.
(b) Desirable :
(i) Knowledge of Typing and Stenography in Hindi.
(ii) Thorough knowledge of working on Computer
3. Research Associate: 06 positions
Age Limit: 35 years as on 30
th
March 2012
Emoluments: Rs. 16000/-or as approved by Govt. of India from time to time.
Admissible House Rent Allowance, which at present is 20% will also be payable.
Essential Qualification:
First Class M.Sc./M.Tech Geology/ Chemistry /Hydrology/ Meteorology/ Geophysics/Physics with Ph.D in the area of Glaciology or atmospheric sciences.
Desirable :
• Field experience in Himalayan Glaciology.
• Candidates with proven experience in modelling aspects of glaciology.
4. Junior Research Fellow : 06 positions
Age Limit: 28 years as on 30th March 2012
Emoluments : Rs.12000/-plus admissible House Rent Allowance (HRA) , which at present is 20% during the first and second year and
Rs.14,000/-p.m. consolidated plus admissible HRA during subsequent years, subject to satisfactory performance.
Sufficient supporting contingent grant for field work etc. will be provided.
Essential Qualification:
First Class M.Sc./M.Tech. in Geology/Glaciology/Hydrology/ Meteorology/ Geophysics/Physics/Chemistry
Desirable:
Specialization (Dissertation or field experience) in the field of Glaciology/ Hydrology/Sedimentology/Remote Sensing/ Meteorology related to Glaciology.

Interested candidates can download the application form from links given below and should submit their application on the prescribed form only, failing which the
application will be liable to be rejected.
Attested photocopies in support of educational qualifications, experience etc MUST be submitted with the application form.
In case of the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC or PH category, attested copies of Caste Certificates or Certificate in support of PH category MUST be submitted with the application forms, failing which the relaxations available will not be allowed.
Candidates already working elsewhere MUST route their applications through proper channel.
